9ICE SHINES AT 2009 HIP HOP WORLD AWARD

Adigun Alapomeji, a.k.a 9ice, was the cynosure of all eyes at the 2009 edition of the Hip Hop World Awards held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, when he won four awards.
The Gongo Aso exponent won the Album of the Year, Artiste of the Year, Song of the Year and the Best Rap in Pop Album categories.
His producer, ID Cabasa, also won the Producer of the Year with the song Gongo Aso by defeating D’banj’s Don Jazzy, Tee Y Mix, Terry G and Jasse Jagz.
Other winners are Jude Okoye, Best Music Video with the PSquare’s Roll It; Timaya, Best Reggae and Dance Hall Album.
JMartins’ Good or Bad, featuring Timaya and PSquare was adjudged the Best Collabo album.
MI won the Hip Hop World Revelation with the song Talk about it and Best Rap album; Naeto C won the Best Rap Single; Banky, Best Vocal Performance (male) and Omawunmi, Best Vocal Performance (female).
Omawunmi was also adjudged the Best In The Next Rated Category. She did not only win an award, she was given 2008 KIA Optima car for her efforts. She had earlier won the 5th best dressed artiste, at the Nominees party which was held at Ajibogun Village, Ota, on May 9th.
Veteran DJ Grandmaster Lee and Philip Trimnell were recognised in the Hip Hop World Hall of Fame, while DJ Zeez of the 04 Kasibe fame won Best Street Hop. Mode 9 was the Best Lyricist on Roll.
The well attended show included musical performance by MI, Dare Art Alade, Lord of Ajasa and 9ice, Tuface and Sound Sultan, Omawunmi and others.
Well, for all those that were nominated, but didn’t win, not to worry, work harder, you might just be lucky to clinch an award next year.
